Icelandic poppies dance and play on an intense field of gold. There is a ton of gilding on this print — no vase, just four poppies holding the frame on their own. It was a technical challenge to produce, but it really sparkles in the sun, mimicking the delicate dance of the poppies.
Luminous Jazz is printed in archival pigment ink on vellum, then gilded on the reverse with Dutch gold leaf through a series of steps in my Rio Rancho, New Mexico studio. The colors and details are stunning on this highly reflective piece — the gold behind the image gives the print a glow that shifts with the light in the room.
