Century Plant Gravure Print
This is a photogravure print on Hahnemühle German Etching® 310 g. Images size is 7”x7” on a 16”x20” archival mat. Brown-black ink custom blended. Hand pulled limited edition to 10
The New Mexico Century (Agave neomexicana) plant sends up a bloom stalk once in the 10 to 30 years of its lifespan. This showy, low-growing agave grows two feet tall and two to three feet wide, forming a tight rosette. Its powdery blue leaves are broad with black or burgundy colored, heavily armed spines along the side of its foliage that grow from a central base. The handsome plant will produce many offsets over its lifetime. The flowers open to form a golden yellow bloom that attracts hummingbirds. I captured this in a neighbor’s yard.
